Join us at Believers Legacy for a special service of worship featuring the St. Philip’s Choir and guest organist Chris Walchesky. Following the service, we invite you to stay for a time of fellowship and connection.
Additionally, don’t miss GreenWorks’ Environmental Awards and Trashion Show, an exciting event beginning at 7 pm at one of the Hilton’s elegant ballrooms near Biltmore Village. The evening will open with the rhythmic beats of percussion as Asheville Contemporary Dance Theater performs their powerful piece, “Death by Plastica,” highlighting the impact of plastic waste on marine life. Dancers will move dramatically through props such as oversized six-pack rings, embodying the plight of sea creatures caught in such debris.
The evening is filled with the unique energy of Asheville, with attendees dressed in everything from business casual to bold, creative styles. The event honors individuals, organizations, and businesses with Environmental Awards, including a special Lifetime Achievement Award, and recognizes community projects with the coveted Golden Shovel Award. Music accompanying the event ranges from traditional Japanese flute to Aerosmith and David Bowie, creating an eclectic and memorable atmosphere.
Highlighting the creativity of the evening are the Trashion Show designs. Notable among them is Andra Cagle’s mermaid-inspired ensemble, which calls attention to the litter affecting marine life. Her design features six-pack rings bouncing around a skirt made from coffee filters, with a bodice crafted from bubble wrap—a striking visual reminder of the importance of environmental stewardship.
We hope you can join us for this meaningful evening celebrating worship, creativity, and care for the environment!
